My apologies for not posting for a long time. We don't have internet at home, so I very rarely have a chance to write an update. I'll do my best...

We haven't been having our 4th Sunday Powell Dinner and Devos due to cold weather. When we leave the Powell property and go to the college or to the fellowship hall the number of Powell residents who attend go way down. We are planning on starting these back up when the weather gets warmer.

Thursday, April 5th, we took a group of 39 adults, teens, and children to the West Virginia Power Baseball game. It was the first game of the season and the high temperature for the day was all of 42 degrees. It was freezing. Everyone came wearing layers of clothing which was good, but that didn't help a whole lot. We took lots of blankets which came in handy. We had a 3 year old, three 5 year olds, and many other grade school aged children. We had the smallest ones wrapped tightly in a blanket for as long as they would sit still. We realized later that no one took pictures of all of us bundled up sitting on the cold metal bleachers. Too bad! I would love to see what we all looked like. We told the kids to eat dinner before they came, bring a snack on the bus, or bring extra money to buy food at the ballpark. Some kids did none of the three. Two brothers, who were some of our youngest (3 & 5) had not had dinner. One of the teens bought a chicken strip basket with fries. The two boys ate some of the fries, but when the teen offered them the rest of their meal, they ripped it away from him like vultures. We made sure all the kids had some food in them. Between pretzels and hot chocolate, I think the venders made a pretty penny on us. After the game was over, they were to do a fireworks display since it was the season opener. We left before the game was over due to the severe cold, runny noses, and restless children. The game took forever. The innings seemed to last a lifetime. As we pulled away from the stadium we turned the radio on to listen to the end of the game. About 2 minutes later the game was over, WV Power won by the way, and they started the fireworks. We thought are kids would be upset since we didn't stay the whole time, but they were too tired and cold to care! We had a lot of fun. For some of these kids, it was the first time to be out of Wood County. Some had never seen the Capital building until we drove by. Gold on the top of a building was an amazing sight to them. I can't forget to mention that some members at Grand Central gave us a very generous donation that made this trip possible! Thank you so much! The kids had a great time!

We are still having TAG every Thursday night. When it's cold we have been meeting at the old library on OVU's South Campus. When it's warm we meet by the office at Powell and do everything outside. Commodities is the 3rd Thursday of every month in the maintenance garage of Powell. Once summer gets here we will be doing additional activities with the kids on Saturdays. We bring adult and kids to church on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights.

Please keep this ministry in your prayers. When we first started doing things with the kids at Powell, Ryan and I would never had imagined this ministry taking off like it has. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the Powell Ministry in one way or another. We cannot thank you enough for what it means to us, and we may never know what it means to the residents at Powell. Thank you!
